One of the great things about homeschooling is you can take a break whenever you want or need one. This week we are doing just that. Me and my little ones will take a few days this week to visit relatives in my hometown. The kids are excited mainly because they know they are going to get some type of gifts. I’m not too excited because I have to PACK! Traveling with many is not easy.
Traveling is one of those things you never think about when you are growing your brood. Now I have to become a travel concierge and personal assistant to my children (and husband if he comes along). There’s at least 4 outfits per person with extra for the baby. Now multiply that by 9 people. Do you know what that equals? Lots of luggage. Let’s not mention all of the socks and underwear and toiletries. Then there’s the food! (Yes we have to travel with our own food.) Ughhh.
Doesn’t look like much of a break for me yet huh? Lol
I’ve kind of figured out a system that works. I pack all the girl clothes in one suitcase. Then all the boy clothes in another. Then a third suitcase for everyone’s pajamas. Lastly, a small duffle bag for socks and underwear. Surprisingly, it all fits. Food is an entirely different post. I will say that I plan a menu and take what I have on hand with us (because I buy in bulk). Then I buy whatever else we need when we get to our destination. It’s another job.
I could ramble on and on, but I’ll keep it short. Traveling with many is not easy. There’s lots of logistics that make taking a break a big task. However, I love to see the excitement on my little ones face when they get to see long distance relatives and take a little break from school, and I know all the prep and planning is totally worth it.

I’m most importantly a follower of Christ by who’s blood we believe there is salvation. We believe in biblical Truth only. Being led by the Spirit of God, we seek to raise our family by that Truth. I am a wife of 7 years, and mom to 8 wonderful children ages 6 years-11 months. We have been homeschooling for 2 years officially (6 if you include preschool). I enjoy music, gardening, and learning to live a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle.
