One of the things that often gets overlooked when gardening is inviting your friends to your garden. I don’t mean family and acquaintances. I mean the tiniest and best addition to every garden: beneficial insects.
Many of the little insects that we swat and run from throughout the summer months are actually good for your garden. One major good bug in your garden is bees. Yes. Those bees that make delicious honey also help you grow delicious and bountiful fruit.
There are other bugs too that will help in your garden. They mostly eat the bad insects that seek to eat your plants. So be happy when you see ladybugs, spiders, or a praying mantis.
So when planning and planting your garden, plant lots of flowers and make lots of comfortable places for these beneficial bugs to make their home for the growing season.
You’ll find that your garden will present many challenges. You will learn as you garden that there will be setbacks. There will be bugs (trust me) they will show up. There may be droughts, bad seeds, or just misfortune.
I encourage you to use these times and moments to learn and grow as a gardener. Don’t get down and out. Research and apply what you’ve learned. Be willing to explore new techniques, and most of all ENJOY what you’re doing.
