It is almost that time. Yep. Most of us are finishing (or have completed) the 180 days required for this school year. Yaa! What a whirlwind it has been especially this last semester.

Our family started 2020 with a great routine, hope, and zeal for the future. Then suddenly we found out we were expecting, the family got ill, and the world fell into the midst of a pandemic. How drastically things can change in just a short time.

Now, I find that I’m having trouble pulling us back out of this slump. Although I didn’t want to, I had to alter my curriculum for the rest of this year. I needed to change the game plan, at the last second it seems, just to make sure we finished on top and on time.

We went from daily lessons together with Mommy to online lessons, independent reading, and virtual studies/field trips. I feel like I’m robbing my babies of a good, consistent education.

However, one thing I’ve learned as a homeschooling mom is that learning will look different for every season in life. Just because our children aren’t in a traditional classroom setting doesn’t mean they aren’t receiving the best education possible. Right? The same rings true inside our homeschool as well.

Some days, weeks, or semesters may flow in a particular way. Then in a blink life happens and you have to adapt to a different learning atmosphere. It doesn’t mean our students will learn less. It just means for that season they have to learn differently.

We get the chance to school our children on how to continue each day even if it’s sick, recovering, or in crisis. We can show them how to adapt as life throws us blessings and obstacles. The best lessons we have the opportunity to teach our little ones are life lessons.

I’m most importantly a follower of Christ by who’s blood we believe there is salvation. We believe in biblical Truth only. Being led by the Spirit of God, we seek to raise our family by that Truth. I am a wife of 8 years, and mom to 8 wonderful children ages 7 years-1 year. We have been homeschooling for 2 years officially (7 if you include preschool). I enjoy music, gardening, and learning to live a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle.
