HOMESCHOOLING IN SOUTH CAROLINA
SC Homeschool law Section 59-65-47 – Option 3
United Community of Homeschoolers Unlimited, LLC (UCHU) serves ALL OF SOUTH CAROLINA providing legal homeschooling status under Option3.
Legal requirements:
- Be the parent or legal guardian
- Have a GED, high school diploma or higher
- Join an Option 3 association – like United Community of Homeschoolers Unlimited
- Complete 180 days of homeschooling
- Provide instruction in the five main subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading and Writing; 7th – 12th graders, Composition and Literature.
Maintain Records:
- Keep a journal, dairy of work completed daily and activities involved in.
- Complete a bi-annual progress report.
- Maintain a porfolio
- Keep attendance
For membership with UCHU you must complete a 90 day and a 180 day attendance card.
If the SC Option 3 homeschool law does not say ‘whatever you are wondering’ it is because you don’t have to follow it.
*No end of the year testing
*Not required to measure children by a grade
*Don’t have to homeschool regular schooling hours or days of the week
*Freedom to choose your own curriculum, create your own curriculum, use online resources, library, YouTube, Netflix, hire a tutor.
