Please, No More Chores!!!

When it comes to my two sons’ completing their chores, I always hear the following words.

“Mom, do I have to take out the trash?”

Or, “Mom, do I have to wash the dishes?”

“Mom, do I have to mow the lawn?”

Can you imagine having your children complain about completing their chores before the work is done?

This is my dilemma.

My children are responsible for completing chores: cleaning the dishes, taking out the trash, cleaning their room, or mowing the lawn.

These are a few chores that my children must complete on a daily and weekly basis. I have a difficult time getting them to perform their daily chores.

As motivation, my children receive an allowance every week for completing their chores. Although an allowance is included, I continue to have issues with them remembering to complete their chores.

Does your child complete his or her chores without a reminder or complaint?

Does your child receive an allowance for completing his or her chores?

Or How do you reward your child for a job well done?

Like my kids, I was not excited to complete my weekly chores every

Saturday and Sunday.

I did not receive an allowance like my children do. I completed my chores free of charge. *smile*

However, I understood how it assisted my Mother after a long week of work. I knew that she appreciated my assistance.

I wish, like younger me, my sons understood the importance of completing their chores. It is to help keep our home clean inside and outside.

In addition, I am teaching my sons’ life skills that they will use as young adults.

My goal is to ensure that my sons can survive on their own without the assistance of others when it comes to cooking, housekeeping, and lawn maintenance, etc.

This is one thing that I do not want to worry about with my sons.
