Growing Up and Becoming More Independent

As a parent, I want to raise my sons to become independent individuals who can successfully survive on their own. For instances, cooking, housekeeping, and budgeting are very important life skills that some people among new and older generation may find challenging.

As a result, my husband and I are motivated in preparing our sons in a way that build good habits or in my husband’s words “muscle memory”. For this blog session, cooking is a life skill we will explore .

Through real experiences, I want my sons to learn how to prepare their own meals as a way to approach the life skill of cooking; also, the kids learn the skills of

cleaning during the meal preparation and after they have eaten.

I wish that I knew at the age of 10 and 12 1/2 years old how to prepare my own meal with adult supervision. Growing up, I did not learn how to cook for myself or my parents.

Cooking is one skill that I am developing until this day. Recipes are my guide to preparing meals for my family.

My sons are learning all of their culinary arts skills from self-taught chef their Dad, who started cooking at the age of twelve as a way to stay out of trouble. My husband provides my sons and I the knowledge and skills they will need to apply to prepare delicious vegan and non-vegan dishes.

I provide the skills of baking through discovering a passion in creating various desserts. As parents, my husband and I are excited to see our kids learn lifeskills that they will need in life.

What age did you learn to cook?

What was the first dish or sandwich you made?

Have a great day!!!!

Happy Homeschooling!!!
