What does Family Game Night mean to me?
Family Game Night is an opportunity to have fun with each other while playing board games, card games or video games together. There is no set schedule to follow and no one has to wake up early for work or school. It is a night of fun with no worries.
Family game night defines fun; also, it means playing new or familiar games as a family, eating vegan grilled Queso with chips (my husband’s recipe) or even barbeque.
Family game night is a time to be silly, happy, carefree and spend time together. Spending time together is very important.
Family game night creates an opportunity to introduce games from our childhood.
For example, UNO, Spades, and Dominoes. This past Labor Day weekend, my husband
and I introduced Dominoes to our kids, this was a great way to unconsciously enhance the kid’s math skills with addition and multiplication while having fun.
As a result, they ended up enjoying it so much that we played it Friday through Sunday.
On the other hand, “Who says learning can’t be fun” my children are not learning directly from a book and no one feels frustrated if the answer is incorrect. Only Good Vibes!
In addition to learning, Family Game Night means including games where real-life decisions are made. One game in particular comes to mind, it is Life.
Life is another one of my family favorites. It involves real life circumstances and making big decisions about life. It is a great way for my sons to understand that decisions have to be made in life. These decisions will not always be easy.
Besides playing games about making real-life decisions, game night includes playing games which teaches money management or budgeting. One of my favorite games is Monopoly.
I enjoy playing the board game and video game of Monopoly.
Monopoly is a teaching game and it is a decision-making game too. I enjoy observing my children having fun. At the end of the night, it is all fun and games. It is a night to relax, relate, and release any stress from the work or school week.
