BIO:

Noelani Perry is a senior Violin Performance major at Belhaven University.

Beginning her violin adventure at the age of 4, Noelani has since then accumulated a wide variety of experience from the 16th+ years spent as both a performer and professional musician while having simultaneously cultivated a growing passion as a violinist and to use her gift to minister to others.

Before coming to Belhaven, Noelani had served in the Hendersonville Youth Symphony (HSYO) from 2015-2017, serving as concertmistress from 2016-2018. There she participated in an exclusive ensemble group named, “CODA” which gained her the privilege of not only playing alongside the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra (HSO) but also together hold solo performances at numerous HSO galas, fundraisers, and community events.

In 2017, Noelani had the distinct pleasure of performing the Saint-Saens Violin Concerto with the HYSO, afterward being given the “Most Outstanding Musician” award. This award acknowledged both her skill and her dedication to her striving for musical excellence.

The same year she also soloed with the Piedmont Chamber Orchestra (PCO) in a performance of the Vivaldi Concerto in D major alongside Mary Irwin, concertmistress of the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra and Noelani’s tutor from 2010-2018.Since graduating from her homeschool studies at 16 years old, Noelani has pursued a career as a professional musician by becoming a member of the Belhaven University Orchestra and the First Baptist Jackson Orchestra.

She has also been playing regularly with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since she was 17. Noelani has further enhanced her training with masterclasses, competitions, and classical music festivals including the Premier Orchestral Institute (POI) and also the MasterWorks Festival (MWF) wherein 2018 and ’19 she was chosen to perform in their esteemed Honors Recital.

Recently in January of 2020, Noelani was given the opportunity to perform with a professional ensemble on a tour to St. Petersburg, Russia where the group participated in a Christian arts festival called “Epiphany Nights.”

At this festival, not only had the group performed with a variety of talented, professionals every evening, but Noelani was highlighted in their Soloist Recital as a representative of her ensemble.

Over the years, Noelani has been given the privilege of studying under an array of skillful and distinguished musicians such as Nicholas Tavani, Gert Kumi, and Brandon Ironside.

With her varied musical accomplishments, Noelani desires to be a role model for other young people of color who desire to become a classical musician. Her love and passion for the violin propels her to not only reach her personal professional goal as a violinist but to also be an advocate for the importance of diversity in her field of expertise.

Noelani currently studies with Mr. Song Xie at Belhaven University.
