How much can children teach themselves? (TED video)

Is education the process of self organization through learning environments?

As home educators can we design the future of learning? Key word…DESIGN!

Just how much can children teach themselves?

Since I went on the quest to ‘look at my homeschooling with new eyes’ I’ve landed upon so many resources that continue to challenge my thinking process.  My thinking process about how I actually homeschool. About what actually is going on in my home day in and day out.

The video below is one shared with me by one of the homeschooling Moms in my homeschool Association Erica Tjelta.

Books from the library. More videos. More conversation. Other’s views on home education.

I know I’m on to something new, unique and rewarding for my children.

With sincere honestly, there is no self proclamation of, “I’ve got it!” projecting out of my mouth just yet.

Instead there are more questions of, “What else can be done to improve my homeschool learning?” What does this ‘new’ homeschooling for the Perry family  at Shine Bright Christian Homeschool need to look like?

I share this video to promote dialogue with you.

What do you think?

Are we stifling our homeschooling children’s ability to learn beyond what they are capable of by spoon feeding them what we have ‘been taught’ is what they should be learning at their age.

Or rather, should we say here is all the hard, difficult and what you can’t even articulate. But HERE have a go at it.

Still thinking…….

(Share with a fellow homeschooling friend. This video just may be the insights that they have been looking for.)
