Fun Getaway at Barnwell State Park

When it comes to celebrating important milestones in your life, what are some ways that you celebrate?

Do you have a favorite location that you visit? Is it a couple’s getaway or a family trip?

My husband and I celebrated our fifteen year wedding anniversay on October 7, 2020.

We decided to spend our anniversary getaway at Barnwell State Park. He reserved a cabin for us.

When we arrived, there were signs informing us of the location of: the office, the cabins, campground etc. The signs were very helpful with it being our first time at this location.

The sign for Barnwell Sate Park is located across the road from the entrance. If you are not looking left or right, you could probably miss it.

Also, the office has signs informing visitors to follow the COVID-19 guidelines of social distance.

When we entered our cabin, there were

Hey, I’m a Homeschooling Diva (Part 2) by Dr. Akiva Ford, DM

Armed with United Community of Homeschoolers Unlimited, LLC
(UCHC) as a guiding light and tool, I feel that I am in a good space
to understand how to move forward.

My second lesson I learned as it related to homeschooling was it was ‘OK’ to go with the flow.

Once we began there were times I just had to “go with
the flow.”

Simply because that was where my kid was.

That was what he needed.

That was the whole point of

homeschooling, right?

So, my goal is to share my homeschooling and personal experiences and stories with the world.

I know I am just a lonely person

UCHU Family!

Great news! Your October 2020 Newsletter is in your inbox.

Sadly, there was a major ‘operator’ error. This supposedly had went out Oct. 5, 2020. I thought it was sent out.

Snap Snap…..click click. And there it went. Or so I thought.

Tonight I thought I go and look at the analytics to see how many of you have read October’s newsletter. Only to find out…..

There were NO ANALYTICS TO LOOK AT.

(((oh the horror!!!)))

However, you should find

Two by Two Petting Zoo Field Trip

Are you looking for a fun social distance family friendly activity?

Are you teaching a lesson about farm animals and looking for an interactive experience?

I highly recommend Two by Two Petting Zoo at Why Not an American Ark located in Monroe, North Carolina. My family had an opportunity to visit Two by Two Petting Zoo, and we had an amazing time.

My family purchased the ticket on Groupon, and it includes a guided walking tour for only $32, and we paid for a bucket of food once we arrived to feed the animals. The bucket of food cost $8.00. It was a really big bucket too. In my

Hey, I’m a Homeschooling Diva (Part 1) by Dr. Akiva Ford, DM

So today begins an exciting journey for me.

This is my first ever blog and I am super excited to share my homeschooling journey with the world.

To give a little back story, I am the mother of eight beautiful
children.

My husband and I call them “the top four and bottom four.”

With the top four, my husband and I did things the traditional way.
Early mornings, bus pickups, parent teacher meetings, and all the
fixings. Our outcome includes three of the four as college students.
One with a full ride. One on a football scholarship. And the other only
30 credit hours shy of graduating.

Although we handled it all, I can honestly say, it has not been the best experience all the time.

With the bottom four, my husband and I made the choice to provide our children with the educational instruction we felt they would need to be successful in life, We decided to homeschool.

One of the first questions we tackled was, “How in the world do we still feed ourselves if I no longer work?”

Well, we became creative with our financial

To Grade or Not to Grade

That is the big question isn’t it? Some say in order for kids to truly know how they are doing in their school, kids need grades. Others say that when a child is graded, they pay more attention to the grade itself than what they need to improve on.

So who is right? What should we do?

To Be Bilingual or Not To Be

Growing up, I did not understand the importance of learning a second language. I was viewing the world as black and white only. I understood that English was my native language, and I had difficulties learning it. I did not understand the importance of learning a second language until I was older.

Now, I understand the importance of learning a second language. This is why my children are enrolled in a virtual Spanish class under our current Homeschool Association titled United Community of Homeschoolers Unlimited LLC https://uchunlimited.com/ .

Why is learning a second language importance for my children to know?

There are several reasons why. First, learning Spanish will allow my two sons to know, understand, and converse with someone who is Latino or Latina.

Second, my children will have the ability if they travel to countries where Spanish is the spoken language, they can
