I am typing this in the midst of an illness that has kept almost our entire family sick since last Tuesday. Please forgive me for being brief (and any errors).

A very important part of gardening for me is my seeds. I simply love browsing through tons of websites and catalogs each year to find the perfect seeds for my taste and climate.

Oh seeds! They seem so simple when you think of them, but they are the powerhouse of your garden. Each little inconspicuous package has what it takes to create your next tomato, squash, or melon. Because seeds are so important, they should be chosen with the utmost care.

A few words I look for when buying seeds: non-hybrid (yes hybrids happen in nature, but they don’t produce after that first generation for a reason), open pollinated (let the bees do the work), heirloom (grew in someone’s garden for a long time), and non-GMO (no science experiments on your seeds).

You can guarantee that you will have a great start to an organic garden if you ensure your seeds are pure and the best quality.

My go to for seeds is Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. There are also some seed companies in the Carolina’s like: Park Seeds, Sow True Seeds, and Southern Exposure. A new favorite this year is MIGardener (seeds are good quality and cheap).

I’m most importantly a follower of Christ by who’s blood we believe there is salvation. We believe in biblical Truth only. Being led by the Spirit of God, we seek to raise our family by that Truth. I am a wife of 8 years, and mom to 8 wonderful children ages 6 years-1 year. We have been homeschooling for 2 years officially (7 if you include preschool). I enjoy music, gardening, and learning to live a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle.
