It’s almost that time again. It’s every football fan’s favorite time of the sports season. Yep, it’s the Superbowl. All games have been played, and it’s down to these final two teams. They get to show off their talents and use their skills to hopefully bring home the coveted trophy and bragging rights for the year.
Whether you are a fan or not, there is one way to get everyone involved in this annual sports event. And that is FOOD! Lol Nothing says Superbowl Sunday like good food, family, and friends.
This year I’m trying to keep it simple (which is difficult because I like to cook and eat). Some fans opt for lavish catered affairs while others are content with frozen pizza and chips. Do whatever fits your preference and your wallet. It’s not about how much you spend. It’s more about creating an atmosphere that you and your guest can enjoy.
Here’s my menu for this year’s game and a few recipes to help get you in the mood for game day:
Instant Pot Hot Wings
1 bag frozen chicken wings
1 cup Frank’s Hot Sauce
Pour wings (frozen) and hot sauce into your instant pot. Set on manual/high for about 20 minutes. Then naturally release. Put wings on a wire rack over a sheet pan. Broil in oven for 7-10 minutes or until crispy.
2 packages cream cheese
1 box spinach or ½ bag frozen spinach or 2 cups fresh spinach (cooked)
¼-½ cup milk or cream
Salt and pepper to taste
- Melt cream cheese in a pot on low.
- Add milk and stir.
- Add spinach, salt, and pepper. Warm through.
I like to add:
Sauteed garlic and onions
Crushed red pepper flakes
Shrimp and Crab Dip
1, 8 oz. package softened cream cheese
1 ½ cups diced, raw prawns or any shrimp of your choice
1 cup Dungeness crab meat or any crab meat available to you
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped flat leaf parsley
1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. lemon zest
2-3 dashes of hot sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 375°F
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the crab.
- Mix well.
- Carefully fold the crab into the dip.
- Gently spread the dip into a glass baking dish.
- Bake 20-30 minutes or until bubbly and lightly golden on top.
- Serve hot with sliced baguette, raw vegetables, and crackers.
Any and every ingredient that would taste good on a tortilla chip
You can purchase anything from sliced meats and cheese to veggie wraps at most supermarkets. We prefer Publix because it’s close and has great quality.
1 white cake mix
1 jar cherry pie filling (or any pie filling of your choice)
1 can crushed pineapple
1-2 sticks of melted butter
This is the easiest recipe in the world. Put pineapple and cherry into a baking dish. Pour dry cake mix on top and use a fork to level. Pour butter on top of cake mix. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
See super simple (at least for me). Just buy a tray, let everyone fix their own nachos, and dump a cake. I’m hoping this menu and a little prep work will leave me plenty of time to enjoy the game with my hubby and little ones. I pray you all will enjoy the game and all your favorite fan foods, but more importantly, enjoy the ones you watch the game with that Sunday.
I’m most importantly a follower of Christ by who’s blood we believe there is salvation. We believe in biblical Truth only. Being led by the Spirit of God, we seek to raise our family by that Truth. I am a wife of 7 years, and mom to 8 wonderful children ages 6 years-11 months. We have been homeschooling for 2 years officially (6 if you include preschool). I enjoy music, gardening, and learning to live a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle.
