Ok. So, I’m not very versed on curriculum, but I wanted to share my experience with the Easy Peasy All-in-One Homeschool curriculum. We had our first child go through kindergarten last year, and this year we have a first grader, two kindergartners, and a host of toddlers and preschoolers (Lol). clarissa-watson-jAebodq7oxk-unsplash

I created my own curriculum last year with our first. I loved it. I found everything for free online or used things I had gathered during my time in graduate school and while working in childcare. I was able to flow freely into any subject matter I wanted without feeling bound by a script or someone else’s objectives. I was free to leave an area of study if it were time to move on or stay in that area until we mastered it.

This year I figured it would be wise to use a curriculum to make it easier to keep up with lessons, planning, etc. I chose a free curriculum…well…because we couldn’t afford to buy a full curriculum. There are so many choices anyway. I’m not sure I could ever pick one.

So, I just dove in and picked one. I chose to use Easy Peasy. I decided to bring my 2 four year olds and 2 two year olds along for the ride because I’m hoping to not have to rehash ALL the same info five years in a row. LOL Wishful thinking right? Anyway, this curriculum has all levels of study I need right now. They have lessons for preschoolers up to high school in multiple subjects. I love that we can all work together within one curriculum.

Easy Peasy is convenient. I can bring up each lesson online and print anything that’s needed for that lesson. There’s an option to buy the curriculum in print form if that’s your choice. I usually just hook my laptop up to the tv using an HDMI cord, and we do lessons on the tv. I then print any worksheets we need that day.

The lessons are manageable for the younger children. I don’t feel like there’s too much for them to accomplish each day. I also like how each course is laid out into daily lessons. This way as children get older they can begin to work independently. It’s simple. Students click on the subject area for that day, find the number of the lesson to complete, and do what is specified for that day. Everything is numbered and there are links for reading material.

What I’m not too pleased with is some of the reading selections. The books and reading lessons may be good quality reading, but they seem to be old. Not the old literature is bad. There just doesn’t seem to be any variety of old and new material. There may be copyright issues which is the reason for this. I would love for the curriculum to give appropriate alternatives to the reading material in case parents and students want to read something else.

There are no supplemental materials for students if they do not understand something. I find you have to look for extra practice or do extra lessons to explain anything your child may not understand. (I was really hoping to not have to do this. But again wishful thinking.) My first grader encountered a lesson that she did not get. The next day’s lesson moved on to the next lesson, and we were left with no options for further practice. It would be nice to have extra practice built into the curriculum. annie-spratt-Y-JCyxFMXbc-unsplash.jpg

This is not a bad program to use. It’s ok for any level. I think if you are new to homeschooling it will benefit you. You will have lessons to complete and a baseline to judge other curriculum on your homeschool journey. Just be ready to add extra practice when needed. For veteran homeschoolers, this may work as a supplement to what you normally do. It’s not a bad program at all. I just think there are areas for improvement and adjustment.

This is by no means a conclusive review of this curriculum. We’ve only been using it for a few weeks and have so much longer to go. I will update you guys if my opinion changes as we move deeper into our studies.

Anyone ever used Easy Peasy All-in-One Homeschool? What are your thoughts? If you use something different, what curriculum is it and tell us one thing you like about it? Comment below. I’d love to hear from you guys and gals!

I’m most importantly a follower of Christ by who’s blood we believe there is salvation. We believe in biblical Truth only. Being led by the Spirit of God, we seek to raise our family by that Truth. I am a wife of 7 years, and mom to 8 wonderful children ages 6-7 months. We have been homeschooling for 2 years officially (6 if you include preschool). I enjoy music, gardening, and learning to live a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle.
