Vision behind UCHU-STEAM Academy?
UCHU-STEAM Academy is a cooperative among Christian homeschool families in the Upstate where CHRIST is the center in all subjects/courses of studies. This cooperative will provide opportunities for the normal learners and special needs/learning differently children to thrive in varied learning opportunities that are not already readily available in our Upstate area.
UCHU-SA classes are NOT intended to replace the parent’s involvement in the child’s education: rather they are to compliment each other.
To provide the resources and the learning environment for our Christian homeschooling students to be engaged in cross-discipline and project-based explorations that instill within them a life-long curiosity about science, technology and the arts. That ultimately will challenge them to learn how to solve problems and seek solutions to issues facing their own home, communities and the world.
Additionally, UCHU-SA will strive to provide an atmosphere where learning has CHRIST at the center. Where excellence in learning is fostered. Presenting our best unto the Lord is the utmost desire. Loving others as we love ourselves is evident. Teachers who are excited about their subject on instruction and expresses that to their students which will magnetize their love of learning.
WHAT IS STEAM?
Science. Technology. Engineering. Art. Mathematics.
“STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration and work through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century!” -Susan Riley, Arts Integration Specialists
